Office Policies
We welcome you as a patient, and appreciate the opportunity to provide you with orthodontic care. The information that follows is designed to answer many questions that most patients have: Free Consultation! The initial appointment is a clinical examination to determine your orthodontic needs. We will advise you of any existing or potential problems and possible treatment options. There is no charge for this examination. |

DIAGNOSTIC WORK UP: If treatment is indicated, diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. CONSULTATION: Some treatment cases are more complicated than others and Dr. Wilson may feel the need to schedule a consultation appointment to aid in the diagnostic process. After Dr. Wilson has evaluated your records, we discuss your treatment with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case. We will work with you to set up a payment plan that is satisfactory to you. ACTIVE ORTHODONTICS: The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, etc.) usually takes from one to two hours depending upon your particular treatment plan. You'll then see us at regular intervals from 6 to 10 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 30 minutes. Our regular office hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6 PM. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is difficult to reschedule since most appointments are made 6 to 10 weeks in advance. IMPORTANT: Missing regular scheduled appointments will extend your original treatment time. On average, every missed/broken appointment will extend your treatment time by 4 weeks. We reserve the right to charge a $25 broken appointment fee after 2 or more missed appointments. RETENTION: After the braces have been removed, we will set up a retention program designed specifically for your needs and assist you in following through with that program. Supervised retention time is generally about the same length as the active treatment. Our original treatment fee covers the cost of your initial retainers and follow-up care. It also includes a post treatment panoramic x-ray to follow your 3rd molars (wisdom teeth). We will either refer you back to your general dentist to follow your 3rd molars or to an oral surgeon to evaluate the need for extraction. Replacement retainers and broken retainers are subject to our standard retainer fee at that time. PAYMENT AND OFFICE POLICIES: The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's treatment needs. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins with our financial coordinator. We have payment plans to suit different budgets, including a low-down-payment option. We also accept assignment from most insurance plans, and we will file the necessary papers to your insurance company. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable to you so that you may have the best orthodontic care available worry free! HOW YOU CAN HELP US SERVE YOU BETTER:

Insurance If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We ask that you assign your insurance benefit to us. The balance will be arranged for you to pay (see above). Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf. Back to top » |
